Open Source Software leader Sourceforge and Geeknet site Slashdot are sponsoring a free virtual trade convention tomorrow, Wednesday, June 15, 2011, on Cloud Computing and what it means for businesses (large or small), enterprise, and government organizations: Heading For the Clouds: 2011 Cloud Computing Update
It starts at 10 AM EST (that’s 8:00 AM in Edmonton) and goes until 2:30 PM EST (that’s 12:30 PM in Edmonton).
Charities, non-profits, and governmental agencies who are either using open source software now, or who intend to migrate to open source in the future to reduce their IT costs, need to check this out. Register here before the convention starts. This is a live event and you will be able to ask questions that pertain to your organization. (They’re also giving away an iPad and HP Tablet to two of the registrants.)
Sourceforge’s event notification:
The past year has seen cloud computing penetrate into virtually every area of IT from traditional outsourcing and SaaS vendors to cloud-based infrastructure, security and backup offerings. With scalability and cost containment remaining major IT challenges, are you looking to the clouds to solve these and other IT issues?
During this event, you will hear from both industry experts and IT staffers like yourselves, and see what’s the latest in public, private and hybrid clouds and what you should be doing now to prepare your organization for the inexorable move toward cloud computing.
