Donovan Creative produces HR attraction CD-ROM
for labour-strapped Alberta companies
October 20, 2006 - Donovan Creative Communications has partnered with the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) Cluster of Greater Edmonton to produce a cost-effective electronic tool for helping companies attract and retain new employees. The new labour attraction and retention CD-ROM builds on the strengths of the 2005 Labour Challenges conference, one of the first major labour attraction symposiums in the province, which was organized by Donovan Creative on behalf of the AEC.
“While everyone else is talking about the labour shortage, the AEC is releasing an actual tool that’s useful and that any company—not just construction, engineering, or architecture companies—can use at career fairs or distribute to prospective employees,” says Paul Strong, Donovan Creative’s marketing director. “Along with built-in video that showcases the lifestyle advantages in Edmonton, it also provides good background information about services and amenities for people who are thinking about relocating here.”
Strong says Donovan Creative brought extensive experience to the table in meeting AEC’s needs.
“We’re intimately familiar with the unique challenges faced by the construction, architecture and engineering sectors through our work with the North American Construction Group, Matrikon, Associated Engineering, and the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation, among others” he says.
The project also benefited from Donovan Creative’s specific expertise in creating memorable labour attraction messages through direct mail pieces, brochures, websites, ad campaigns and internal communications for domestic and foreign markets on behalf of clients like Waterous Power Systems, Women Building Futures and the EEDC.
Strong says the key ingredient that Donovan Creative brought to these projects is the consistent quality of the ideas that drive them.
“We know how to come up with compelling brands that get people’s attention,” Strong says. “And our clients like the fact that they can get that level of quality from a local firm without having to use one of the larger and more expensive agencies.”
The AEC Cluster of Greater Edmonton markets regional expertise in architecture, engineering, construction, environmental, and related services in order to raise the profile of these services locally and globally.
