September 4, 2007 - Donovan Creative Communications has helped Edmonton International Airport win first prize in the Airport Council International – North America 2007 Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest.
Edmonton International was awarded First Place in the Partnering with Carriers category for its community campaign to build support for Air Canada’s non-stop service between Edmonton International and London-Heathrow. The ‘Closer to Home’ print and web promotion designed and executed by Donovan Creative was a successful element of the publicity campaign. Business, political and community stakeholders also played a major role by providing letters and other forms of support.

Air Canada launched three-times per week non-stop scheduled service between Edmonton and London last fall. The service was expanded to a daily schedule April 1, 2007.
The ‘Closer to Home’ campaign focused on marketing the service both locally and in the United Kingdom to ensure that the new route was a success. Responding to strong support for the service, Air Canada recently announced that it that it will continue to offer its summer daily non-stop service between Edmonton International and London-Heathrow through the winter. Airports Council International – North America selected Edmonton International’s campaign from among close to 300 hundred entries from more than 70 airports.
