Diversity Captured

The City of Edmonton is a diverse and dynamic city, with events happening all year round in its lively neighbourhoods. Many of the photos in the Community Services Department’s library, showed the same places and faces. The department wanted new photos that would reflect how multifaceted modern-day Edmonton really is.

DONOVAN’s first photoshoot for the city’s Community Services Department took place in the summer of 2009. With the city’s image goals in mind, we scouted and sourced all the locations and models and supervised the photoshoots from on-location art direction to postproduction.

Despite the fact that these photos were meant for just one city department, other departments jumped to use the images that we provided. Since the original shoot, we have done two more for the city in the fall and winter of both 2009 and 2010. These subsequent photoshoots aimed to show off Edmonton’s perhaps most underrated asset: our wickedly fun winters. These new photos, showing all sorts of Edmontonians enjoying the snow, appear on a wide variety of city collateral.
